Hi to the people who are reading this blog, my name is Jason. I live in a small community in Northeastern Kentucky called Vanceburg. It is so small it only has one stop light.
I was born in 1971 and was adopted by the most wonderful family. I grew up on a huge farm and my oldest brother also had farms. At one point we were raising 40 plus acres of tobacco.
We also raised beef cattle at least 100 head. Also, we started raising hogs, we had over 500 hogs at one point. I sold them out of what I named “Jason’s Swine Barn”.
Typically we had hay, corn, and tobacco on our farms but we soon quit raising the corn as it was cheaper just to buy a truckload of it. One of my earliest memories from the farm we lived on was when one of our barns caught on fire and burned to the ground. I could not have been more than four or five when that happened. I can remember sitting on my mom and dads bed upstairs watching all the fire trucks and the fire – it was night time when it started burning.

I lived on that farm for more than 20 years and then my parents bought up a smaller farm on RT.8 towards Vanceburg. I only lived there not more than one year.
Now, why am I blogging? I am a wannabe writer and I had a very successful WordPress blog four or five years ago. I was the sole person that wrote, edited, researched and so on and it turned out very good.
Writing is a passion that I have had all my life, I had written several short stories when I was young. What I would give to still have those. It is a passion even though I have never had any classes about writing. I don’t even know how to properly type and type all of my articles with two fingers but I have almost mastered it and rarely make spelling mistakes. Grammar that is a different story, I am probably the worst writer in that category, but thank goodness for GRAMMARLY.
My dream is to write enough articles on the blog to form a book at a later date. One last reason I am blogging is that I am disabled and have nothing else to do. I was married for 18 years and then got a divorce. So it is just me and my dog named “Mutt”. Writing passes the time. This is my Welcome to First Friday! post
