Where I Grew Up – Is Hidden Away Part 2

In my previous post, I stopped at:

It started off as a calf barn but was turned into a country store and was first operated by Ernest Polley, he lived in the store and had a German Shepard dog. After Ernest gave the store up we bought the remaining stock and then we ran the little store.

I must add that we inherited the store property from my great uncle Forrest Queen his store was located at the mouth of Martin Forks, KY. this was the official name for the US Post Office that was located in the store.

Here are a few pictures for you to enjoy I am still trying to get a few pictures so I may post some later on in another post.

Forrest Queen, Daisy May, Beet McCall
This is the Old Store building: from left to right is                                 Beatrice McCall, Daisy May, and my Uncle Forrest Queen. Forrest died the year I was born so I never knew him.

Quicks Run Store
This is not a very good picture but it is the newer Store Building that started off as a calf barn in my previous post. This was after we had finally sold the lot and building.

Forrest Queens Store
Another picture of the old store building at Martin Fork, KY.  My grandmother’s house can be seen in the background which is gone now.

mamaw coxs old house
This is where my grandmother’s house once stood.

Old Martin Church site
This is directly across from the store building it is where Martin Church was located beside the shallow Martin Fork Creek for years until a flood destroyed it and they moved it down the road about 1 mile.

me as a baby
This is me sorry for bad picture

the farm
This is an overhead view of the farm I grew up on.

my house
This is a view from Quick’s Run Road – looking up the lane to where I grew up. The house is in the middle of the picture it was a two story house. But originally was a one or two room cabin.

Well, I would hope you have enjoyed this post. I am not sure why I am posting this trip down memory lane maybe I will figure out the reasoning a little later down the road.
